Zonal finals at Chandigarh. 24th & 25th January, 2009.
 
     
 

The 2 Finalists-The 2 finalists-St. Stephens and St. Soldiers with Chief Guests-Mr. Anwar Ali-JCT Captain and Indian player, Mr. Sanjiv Maria-Mohun Bagan and current Indian player, Mr. Jamshid Nassiri-Head Scout and Mr. R Bakshi-Gen Sec. CFA.

  The zonal finals of Tata Tea Jaago Re Soccer Stars was held in Chandigarh on January 24 and 25 at Chandigarh Football Stadium.
     
  More than 35 teams participated in the two day tournament fighting to win the zonal finals.
     
  St. Stephen's School emerged as winners defeating St. Soldier's School by 2 goals. This will take them to the national finals to be held in Kolkata mid this year.
     
 
   

The Chosen 4-L-R, Umakanta Kiyam-St Stephens, Samandram Luwang-St. Stephens, Amardeep Singh Gill-DAV, Golmei Mariamdum-St. Stephens.

Some of the players who came to lime light during these two days were,
     
  Tao Shinga from S D High School was recognized as Chandigarh’s most valuable player.
     
  Dhaneshwar of St. Stephen' s School was declared the best goalkeeper.
     
  Aeshdeep Singh of St. Soldier’s School came out as the highest goal scorer during the zonal matches.

  Golmei Mariamdum, Samandram Luwang and Umakanta Kiyam from St. Stephen's School, and Amardeep Singh Gill of DAV Sector 8 were selected for coaching by Arsenal coaches at Kolkata from Chandigarh.
     
  Jamshid Nassiri, Head Scout, observed the tournament for the most promising kid showing exceptional talent in the game.
